Explore Muroran's Wild Coast Tour
Tour Overview
Discover and learn about the industrial city of Muroran and it’s wild coastline!
This area is relatively unknown to most tourists who visit Hokkaido, but this corner of Hokkaido has some of the most unique coastline to offer.
The tour begins by driving to Muroran and then taking the small and picturesque coastal road. Our first stop is a viewpoint where we can see the Nippon Steel factory and Itanki beach. Next, we continue along the road and visit Cape Chikyu where you will be able to see across Volcano Bay. We then take a short 20 min walk down to the sea where you will see the maginificent naturally-formed arch, Horaimon gate. We will then retun back to the car and drive to the last viewpoint, where you can see the largest bridge in Eastern Japan, Hakucho bridge, and the port of Muroran city. Finally, we will drive over Hakucho bridge and back to Noboribetsu.
*To see Horaimon gate, you will need to walk about 10m through shallow sea water. You can use your own sandals or use sandals provided.
