Discover Lake Tachibana!
This magical place is nestled in the mountains near Noboribetsu. The lake is a secret oasis untouched by the tourists of Noboribetsu Onsen. On a sunny day the water is vivid blue and is the perfect spot to have a dip!
This walking tour starts in Karursu Onsen and takes just over an hour to reach the lake. On the way, we will walk through beautiful forests until we reach the lake. At the lake we will have a rest and a snack and have a chance to cool off. This is a great chance to escape the crowds and to enjoy the peacefulness of Noboribetsu’s nature.

- Availability: April-Mid-December
- Duration: 3 hours (9:00-12:00 and 13:00-16:00)- early or late start available for private tours depending on availability.
- Difficulty: Easy
- Max participants: 4 people
- Equipment: Hiking poles available
- Clothing: Layers that can be easily removed or added are advised. Rain jacket and hiking shoes/boots are advised. A backpack to put your camera and water in is also advised. On sunny days, a hat, sunglasses and sun cream is also a good idea. Do not wear jeans as you will get cold if they get wet.
- Food and drinks: Please bring water. A hot or cold drink (depending on season) and biscuits are provided.
- Pick-up: Free pick-up and drop-off is available in Noboribetsu and Noboribetsu Onsen.
- Payment: Cash only
Tour Schedule
9:00-9:15: Pick-up (Pick-up from Noboribetsu and Noboribetsu Onsen)
9:15-9:30: Drive to the start point
9:30-10:30: Walk through the forest to the lake
10:30-11:00: Have a rest and enjoy the lake!
11:00-11:45: Walk back to the start point
11:45-12:00: Drive back and say goodbye!
Know before you go
- This is a physical activity and participants should be able to climb up and down uneven terrain over a distance of 4km.
- Please prepare for bad weather even if it is sunny, mountain weather can change quickly.
- Tour will be either be canceled or postponed (if possible) if bad weather occurs.
- If there is an injury or the guide deems it unsafe to carry on, the tour will finish.
- Please prepare your own insurance as Nobo Tours does not have insurance for its customers.
