Mt. Ichankoppe Hiking Tour
Tour Overview
Hike with panoramic views of Lake Shikotsu!
Mt. Ichankoppe is an 829 m mountain located beside Lake Shikotsu in the Shikotsu-Toya National Park, just a 15-minute drive from Lake Shikotsu Onsen town. The mountain is blanketed in diverse forests of pine and fir, alongside birch, oak, and maple, offering beautiful scenery throughout the hike.
The trail begins with a steady climb through lush forest before opening up to scenic views of Lake Shikotsu. We then tackle some steeper sections on the way to a midway rest point, where Mt. Eniwa—an active volcano—can be seen with its fumaroles gently steaming. From there, we continue along a ridgeline to the summit, where we can relax, enjoy a snack, and take in the peaceful natural surroundings. We then descend the same route, return by car, and say our goodbyes.
